Town Hall

The town hall dominates this view of High Street North, looking towards the croassroads. This photo was taken (at 11.20!) some time between 1869 (when the clock was erected on the town hall tower) and 1879 when the hall burned down. The building was orignally the old Market House, erected in 1805, with a corn exchange and plait hall added in 1872.
